Alert Bay Roberts drive-thru clerk spots drunk driver

A 42-year-old St. John’s man is without his vehicle and driver’s license after a local business in Bay Roberts reported to police that a person at their drive thru window had open alcohol in his vehicle and was possibly impaired.

The report came in at 12:15 a.m. on August 5. Police responded and stopped the vehicle. The driver failed a roadside breath test, was arrested and brought to the Bay Roberts Detachment for further testing. Breath samples provided exceeded the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration. 

The man will appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving and having open alcohol in a vehicle. His license was suspended and his vehicle impounded.
