Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, construction of the new intermediate school in Paradise remains on schedule and on budget, according to a spokesperson from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The school, located just off McNamara Drive and across from the Rotary Paradise Youth Centre and Double Ice Complex, is set to open this coming September.

The 11,000 square metre, three storey building will accommodate over 800 Grade 6 to 9 students. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador awarded a contract valued at $30.9 million to Lindsay Construction for construction of the school.

As of December, the construction site was providing employment for 55 people, all from the province.
