CBS looking to hire Green Team youth again this summer

The Town of Conception Bay South is anticipating the chance to hire on more young people this year under the provincial government’s Green Team Program.

Councillor-at-large Cheryl Davis raised the matter at council’s Tuesday night meeting.

She put a motion to the floor that night that would see the Town contribute $3,500 for the purpose of hiring four youth under the banner of the Conception Bay South Parks Commission’s Green Team in 2021. This, she said, would be pending a partnership between the Town and Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador.

This is a program that has been active in the community for years now.

That motion was passed unanimously.

“The Town has been incredibly blessed to have amazing youth from our Town be part of the Green Team each summer,” Davis said. “This recommendation supports our application for 2021.”

Davis said the four youths hired through the program will be responsible with aiding the Town’s Parks Commission members with their projects.
