• LUNCH & LEARN – The Salvation Army CBS 50 Plus Fellowship on October 11th (from 2-4 p.m.) will feature Coralie Dodge who will share her experiences from her work with Samaritan’s Purse. Coralie has travelled to Costa Rica, Uruguay and Gambia, Africa to distribute Christmas Shoe Boxes. A light lunch will be served. • St. Peter’s, Upper Gullies Annual Thanksgiving Jiggs Dinner, Auction and Card Game will be held on Monday, October 14 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Jiggs Dinner complete with dessert and tea or coffee -$15. (No takeouts) Auction of Salt beef/ribs, baked goods, preserves, vegetables etc. to follow. Finish off this fine night with a card game – cash prizes. $5. • Topsail United Church announces the return of its popular Harvest Festival Online Auction until October 30 at www.charityauctionstoday.com/auctions/TUC-9052. • Topsail United Church annual Thanksgiving Breakfast will be held on Saturday Oct. 12 from 8 until 11 a.m. Usual Great Menu, Cost $ 8 Adults, Children under 12 is $ 4, Face Painting and Colouring for the Children. • Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50 Kelligrews will hold a Seniors Dance on Thursday, October 17 from 7 – 10 p.m. Cost is $5 per person. Music by Brian Finn. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
• The ACW’s Annual Thanksgiving Dinner (Roast beef and all the trimmings) featuring a mini bake sale will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Topsail. • All singers are invited to join Coastal Sounds Choir Association’s 7th Annual christmas cantata project, to be presented at their Christmas Concert on Dec. 18. • The CBS Kin Club will hold its Coats for Community Drive on October 26th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dominion Store in Long Pond. We will be accepting coats, snow suits, hats, scarves, mittens and boots. We look forward to seeing you all drop by to help those who are less fortunate.

• Topsail United Church will hold a Turkey Dinner with Dessert, Tea and Coffee, on Saturday November 2, at 6:30 p.m. Cost $20. Tickets are available by calling the church office at 834-4567.

• St. Peter’s Annual Fall Fair will be held on Saturday, November 2 beginning at 10 a.m. with Coffee and tea, buns and Muffins – $5. Sale of baked goods, crafts, bread table etc. ‘til 12 noon. Silent auction all day with a variety of goods and services you can surely use. Then, your favourite Turkey Cold Plate Dinner at 6:00 p.m. – $15 which includes an all-you-can-eat salad and dessert buffet. No way you will leave hungry. • Knights of Columbus Kelligrews is hosting a Craft Sale at its hall on the main Road, Kelligrews on the 10th of November from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $2 at the door. 50/50 tickets sold and a canteen will be available. Bring a friend and see local Crafts people show off their products. All proceeds in aid of the Knights Columbus Holy Spirit Council CBS/Paradise Charities.

• The 8th annual Christmas at Queen E is scheduled for Sunday, November 24 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Interested vendors can come by the school between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to complete a registration form, sign a waiver, select a table number and pay the appropriate fee for their chosen table(s). CBS Special Olympics serves individuals with intellectual disabilities. We offer sports programs in 5 and 10 pin Bowling, Athletics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Snowshoeing, Swimming, Bocce, and softball. We also offer recreational Table Tennis. We still have spaces available. We are also looking for volunteers and coaches within our programs. Please come to see what Special Olympics has to offer you! • Spousal Grief and Bereavement Support Group – Are you experiencing grief due to the death of your spouse? Please join us on Tuesday nights, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, Upper Gullies. This support group provides an opportunity for individuals to meet and discuss the loss of your spouse, provide support to each other, and share information that may help during the grieving process. • The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62, Riverhead, St. Mary’s Bay is letting residents know from our neighboring communities that the Branch has an assortment of medical aides and equipment available for the public at no charge. If you are in need of specific items, please contact the Branch at 525-2712 or our chairperson of medical supplies Willie at 525-2427. All we require is that the equipment is returned to the Branch after the need is no more, so we can lend it out to others. Thank you.
