The weekend of January 25-26th was a successful weekend for CBS volleyball players at the 4th annual Burger King Classic hosted by the MUN Seahawks Women’s team. Athletes from Villanova Junior High, Frank Roberts Junior High and Queen Elizabeth Regional High School were in attendance for this 40+ team tournament.

In the grade 7 division, Villanova had a great showing for their first tournament. For the grade 8 division, the Villanova Vipers captured the Tier 1 Gold while the Frank Roberts Ravens finished with the Tier 1 Silver.

In the Grade 9 division, the Frank Roberts Gold team narrowly missed out competing in the championship division in the Tier 1 category. For the Senior High Division, the Frank Roberts Ravens Blue (Grade 9s also) captured the Tier 2 Gold medal, edging out the Queen Elizabeth ‘B’ team in the final earning them a Silver medal for their hard fought tournament.

In the Tier 1 Division, the Queen Elizabeth ‘A’ team captured the Gold Medal in a hard-fought battle against the Holy Trinity Tigers.

Overall, it was a very successful showing in the Senior High Division with three of four teams in the finals being from CBS and the two the teams in the finals of Grade 8 Tier 1 hailing from CBS.

There have been more significant wins for the schools since then including Ravens Blue winning the 15U Provincials and Morgan Group of Companies (a combination of Ravens and Pioneers players) winning the 17U Provincials. Volleyball is looking bright now and in the future in CBS!
